šŸ‘‹ the ogc digest: may 16 2024

šŸ‘‹ Welcome back to the biweekly ogc roundup!

I’ve lately been thinking about how we experience the time behind us and the time ahead of us, especially as it pertains to our careers. This article made me reflect on the macro changes that happen over tens of years, and how it’s almost like we don’t learn it’s a marathon until we finish running it.

How can we more accurately or productively orient ourselves within the full timeline of our careers? How should or can we consider the previous decade vs. the upcoming two or three? Let’s discuss here.

A good read: ā€œAge-Fluidityā€ by Mari Andrew

ā€˜I don’t mean to be doomy-and-gloomy about all the potential curveballs of life, but I’ve noticed that my most age-fluid (and joyful!) friends truly understand human frailty.

And when we consistently recognize our frailty, we don’t expect a linear path, nor do we put too much of our value into something that can disappear.’ [read here]

A newsletter or podcast rec: Weekly Fixations by me! I started writing a weekly newsletter to develop my voice outside of OGC and I think (hope!) a lot of you will enjoy it. Each Monday I give you 5 things to fixate on that week in order to have less boring small talk and/or to have philosophical, creative thoughts when you’re alone.
